2016-2017 Company Dancers
Jillian is a seventeen year old senior at Morgantown High School. She has been dancing at Morgantown Dance since the age of four, and has been a member of the Morgantown Ballet Company for 6 years. Jillian enjoys dancing year round, and has participated in summer intensives at The Rock School for Dance in Philadelphia and Cincinnati Ballet’s summer intensive. Jillian has danced in numerous productions with Morgantown Dance, most recently “The Nutcracker” and “Peter Pan.”
Nikki is an 18 year old senior at Laurel Highlands High school in Uniontown Pennsylvania. She has been dancing since the age of seven, starting her training at Ballet Lafeyettte before coming to Morgantown Dance Studio in 2010. She has trained at various intensives over the summer including the Reed Summer Intensive, Nashville Ballet Summer Intensive, and Louisville Ballet Summer Intensive. Nikki has performed in over twenty ballet productions and looks forward to performing as Clara in Morgantown Dance Studios production of the Contemporary Nutcracker. Outside of dancing she enjoys writing and going to concerts.
Laurel is a ninth grader at Mountain Ridge High School in Frostburg, Maryland. She participates in the chorus, jazz band, and drama club. She has been dancing at MDS since 2007. Her performance opportunities include ballets, musicals and operas such as The Nutcracker, The Snow Queen, Annie, Snow White and Carmina Burana. In her spare time, she plays the piano, harp, clarinet, and takes voice lessons. Her hobbies include reading, drawing, composing, camping, and cross country skiing.
Bailey Turner is a sixteen year old honors junior at Albert Gallatin High School in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, where she participates in the band as drum major, drama club, debate team, National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. This is her fourth season performing with the Morgantown Ballet Company and Morgantown Dance. Bailey started her ballet training at age 3 with the Fayette School of Ballet, and has also danced with the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmichaels, PA, where she also participated in musical theatre. Bailey has attended summer intensives with the Nashville Ballet, The Orlando Ballet and Point Park’s International Summer Dance. She has participated in many ballets, some of her favorite roles include a gypsy in the Snow Queen and “Clara” in The Nutcracker.
Sarah Walker has been dancing since 2003. She is a sixteen year old 4.0 junior at Robert C. Byrd. As well as dancing at Morgantown Dance Studio and dancing with the Morgantown Ballet Company during the year, she has also attended the Nashville Ballet Summer Intensive, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater Summer Intensive, Hubbard Street Dance Summer Intensive, and Point Park International Summer Intensive on scholarship. Sarah has also been awarded scholarships from the Jackson’s Mill Mini Festival in the 2012, 2013, and 2015 dance seasons, received an invitation to go to the West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts, and won the West Virginia Friends of Culture Scholarship last year from the West Virginia State Dance Festival. Sarah has had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Kelli Hodges, Keisha Lalama, Garfield Lumonious, and Jason McDole. She has been in many productions with Morgantown Ballet Studio including Peter Pan, The Nutcracker, Snow Queen, and many others. She has most enjoyed performing as Peter Pan in Peter Pan, the Dewdrop in The Nutcracker, River in Snow Queen, and Dying Swan in Carnival of the Animals.
Andrea began her dance studies at the age of five at Regina’s Studio of Dance and continued under Kim Pauley at the school of the Charleston Ballet in Charleston, WV; where she apprenticed and performed throughout high school. Andrea attended West Virginia University and took a break from dancing to focus on music until she was referred to Morgantown Dance, where she resumed ballet and discovered modern dance. Andrea was an original member of Alchemy Dance Project, a local modern dance company and has performed in many of their productions as well as with Morgantown Dance. Her favorite role to dance was “Aurora” in Ashley Manzo’s 2011 original modern dance retelling of the Sleeping Beauty ballet. Andrea has been a member of The Morgantown Ballet Company since its inception in 2008. In 2010 Andrea became certified in the nationally renowned Leap ‘n Learn early childhood pre-ballet dance curriculum and is proud to be in her 7th year as a dance teacher. Having taught at Morgantown Dance Studio and currently at Artistry House. Although she’s studied mainly ballet and modern, her favorite style to dance is JAZZ!
Abbie is a fourteen year old, 4.0 freshman at University High School. She began her training at Morgantown Dance Studio at the age of 4. She was recently awarded a full scholarship to Nashville Ballet for Summer 2017. She trained at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Summer 2015 & 2016. Her past performances include: “The Nutcracker”, “Peter Pan”, “Snow White”, “Snow Queen”, and “Alice in Wonderland”. Abbie enjoys being a student assistant for the Morgantown Dance foundations Program. She was accepted into Governors School for Math & Science Summer 2016. This is her second season dancing with the Morgantown Ballet Company.
Isabella is a member of The Morgantown Ballet Company and dances with the Morgantown Dance Studio. She has been with the studio since 2009 and started her dance career in 2004 with the Fayette School of Ballet and Ballet Lafayette. She has attended dance intensives such as Jackson’s Mill, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, The Louisville School of Ballet and The WV State Dance Festival, as well as classes with Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. She was also accepted into Alvin Alley summer intensive and The Joffrey School of Modern Dance. She has performed in many productions including The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, The Snow Queen, All Hallow’s Eve, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. She is sixteen years old and is a sophomore in the gifted program at Albert Gallatin Senior High School. She hopes to continue her dancing career.
Kathleen Logothetis Thompson began dancing at the age of 3 and received most of her early training in ballet and tap from the Dancer’s Studio and Warwick Ballet Company in Warwick, NY. She also trained in Irish step dancing with championship dancer Kerry Gleason at KerryDanceNY for about seven years. After leaving WBT she danced occasionally with two other studios through the end of high school and college and performed with Siena College’s Irish step dancing troupe “Reel Treble.” Upon moving to Morgantown to pursue graduate degrees in history, she found Morgantown Dance and has trained and performed with them since 2010. She has trained in ballet, tap, Irish step dancing, contemporary, and modern. Currently she teaches Irish step dancing for ages 5-adult at Morgantown Dance. Kathleen is a member of the Morgantown Ballet Company and has performed in countless performances over her many years of dance.
Evelyn Beard is thirteen years old and attends South Middle School in Morgantown, WV. She has been dancing at Morgantown Dance since the age of three, and is a member of Company 1 for the Morgantown Ballet Company. Evelyn has danced in many productions with Morgantown Dance, and most recently performed the role of John Darling in “Peter Pan.” Evelyn has participated in the West Virginia State Festival where she danced in the studio piece “In the Meanwhile” choreographed by Ashley Manzo. Over the summer, Evelyn had the opportunity to attend the Cincinnati Ballet Summer Intensive. Besides dancing, Evelyn enjoys playing the piano and playing the flute in her school marching band.
Sophia Brown is the 14 year-old daughter of John and Amy Brown. She resides in Morgantown, WV, where she is a 4.0 GPA eighth grade student at South Middle School. She began her dance training at the age of 3 at the Performing Arts Academy in Morgantown, has also studied tap at AW Dance Studio and began dancing at Morgantown Dance Studio in 2010. Her past performances include “The Nutcracker,” “The Snow Queen,” “Snow White,” and “Peter Pan.” Sophia has attended several dance intensives at Morgantown Dance, the WVU Summer Teen Academy and the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. She has also been a student assistant for tap, jazz, musical theater, and ballet at Morgantown Dance since 2014, assisted and performed at the annual Stepping Stones Festival, and performed at the West Virginia State Dance Festival in Charleston. Sophia loves music and currently plays in the drum line in the South Middle School Band. This is her second season performing with the Morgantown Ballet Company.
Cambrie is fourteen years old and has danced since the age of five. She is honored to be a member of the Morgantown Ballet Company and dance at Morgantown Dance Studio. Cambrie has trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, modern, and contemporary. She has attended dance intensives such as Destination Broadway in NYC, WVU Teen Dance Academy, Jacksons Mill, and the WV State Dance Festival. Cambrie also enjoys singing and acting and has performed in numerous musicals for her school & professional theater. She recently had the opportunity to choreograph her school’s production of Beauty and the Beast. She looks forward to continuing her dance training at MDS!
Emma is a freshman at University High School. She has been dancing at Morgantown Dance sine she was seven years old. She currently takes ballet, pointe and modern classes. This past summer she attended a ballet intensive at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. She enjoys working as a student assistant in the studios Foundation Program. Emma’s first show with Morgantown Dance, was Sleeping Beauty, she has been in several shows since, and is currently rehearsing for The Nutcracker Suites.
Courtney Kline, 13, has been dancing at Morgantown Dance Studio since age 4. In addition to ballet, Courtney has taken tap, acro, jazz, modern and musical theater. Courtney has attended the Dance WV Fall Festival at Jacksons Mill for four years and the WV State Festival last spring, The Suncrest middle school eighth grader started in productions as a fairy in Sleeping Beauty. She has had various roles in a number of Nutcracker productions, a broom in the Sorcerer’s Apprentice and a Lost Boy in Peter Pan. Her most notable role was Gerda in the 2014 Snow Queen. When she is not dancing, Courtney enjoys skiing, golf, photography, music and hanging out with friends.
Chloe is a 15 year old homeschooled highschool freshmen. She has been dancing since the age of 3 and has attended classes at Morgantown Dance Studio since the summer of 2013. Chloe’s most recent performance opportunities include The Nutcracker and Snow White. In her spare time, Chloe enjoys playing the piano, reading, and spending time with her family. This is Chloe’s first year of being a part of the Morgantown Ballet Company.
Chloe is 14 years old and has been with Morgantown Dance taking classes and enjoying roles in productions for several years. She performed at State Festival in Charleston in April 2016 and participated in Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet one week summer intensive the past two years, as well as Jackson’s Mill WV Festival of Dance in October the past two years. Chloe is a majorette with South Middle School Band.
Zoë is thirteen years old and attends Mountaineer Middle School. This is her first year in Company ll. Since age six, she has been dancing with Morgantown Dance Studio and studies pointe, ballet, and modern. Zoe has played roles in the Nutcracker, the Snow Queen, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, Magical Carnival of Animals, and most recently Peter Pan. She attended WVU Summer Dance Intensive, Davis and Elkins Spring Dance Festival, and the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet August program. In 2015 at Jacksons Mill, she was awarded with the Davis and Elkins Spring Dance Festival scholarship. Outside of dance, Zoë is a member of the leadership team at her school and enjoys volleyball, reading and spending time with her friends and family.
Kayla Hoover is Sixteen years old and a sophomore in high school. She has been a student at Morgantown Dance since January of 2015 and is very excited to join Morgantown Ballet Company this season. In addition to dancing at MDS, she is also a student at Mountain City Center for the Arts. Along with dancing, Kayla enjoys singing, acting, and playing the piano. She has had the opportunity to do many performances, some of which include: The Nutcracker, Mary Poppins, The Winter Garden, A Mountain City Christmas, and the movie Buttons. Kayla has studied at the HARID Conservatory and The Ballet Theatre of Maryland during the summers and has trained with Frostburg State University Dance Company and Frostburg Dance Academy during the year. She hopes to continue her dance career and looks forward to the many opportunities ahead.
Morgan Weitzell is a 12 year old 7th grade honor student from Mars, PA. She began dancing at the age of three in St. Paul, MN, then studied ballet at Appalachian Ballet Theatre in MD. Morgan has been dancing at Morgantown Dance since 2014. Since moving to PA in August, Morgan dances at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School during the week and Morgantown Dance on weekends. She has been in numerous ballet productions, her first as a 2 year old shepherd in James Sewell Ballet’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. Performances with Appalachian Ballet Theatre and Morgantown Dance include: The Nutcracker, Peter Pan, Snow White, La Fille Mal Garde and The Snow Queen. Her favorite role was Dream Gerda in The Snow Queen. She has also trained at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s August Course in 2015 and 2016 and Jackson’s Mill Fall Festival in 2016. When not dancing Morgan loves to read, and spend time with family, friends and her dog Leo.
Autumn is 12 years old and a member of Morgantown Dance Company. She began dancing at the age of two and has been studying ballet, jazz, modern and contemporary at Morgantown Dance Studio since 2008 where she is also a student intern for the Foundations Program. She attends middle school at St. Francis de Sales Central Catholic where she consistently makes the principal’s honor roll. Autumn trained with the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Summer Program in 2016, the Dance WV Fall Festival in 2012 and 2016, and attended the Morgantown Dance Junior Summer Intensive in 2014. She is the recipient of the 2017 Dance WV Fall Festival Scholarship. She was invited to perform as “Little Ti Moune” and “Little Girl” for the musical Once On This Island by the University High School Drama Department and performed in various school musicals including Meet Me at The Manger playing the role of “Miss Ellie.” Autumn has performed in multiple Morgantown Dance productions including Sleeping Beauty, The Snow Queen, The Nutcracker, Magic Carnival of Dance and Peter Pan. She ran with the cross country Varsity team for her school and won the Mason-Dixon Conference Championship in 2015. During her free time, she enjoys snowboarding, crafts, ice skating, horseback riding, playing piano, paddle boarding, and spending time with her family and friends.
Talia Reedy is a thirteen-year-old 8th grader who attends Suncrest Middle School, where she is active in the school choir and Girl Scouts. She began dancing at the age of four, starting at The Dance Center in Traverse City, Michigan. Talia first started taking classes at Morgantown Dance in 2014 and has had roles in The Snow Queen, Snow White, The Nutcracker, and Peter Pan. She has attended summer ballet intensives at The Allegheny Ballet Company and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, as well as attending Jackson’s Mill and The WV State Dance Festival. Talia is looking forward to learning and growing this year as an apprentice in the Morgantown Ballet Company.
Bethanny is a fifteen year old freshman at Notre Dame High School in Clarksburg. She began dancing at the age of five. This is her first year with Morgantown Ballet Company. Bethanny attended the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet”s summer intensive and also participated in the West Virginia State Dance Festival. She enjoyed performing in “Peter Pan”, and is very excited to be in the performance of “The Jazz Nutcracker” and to try her hand at choreography. Bethanny also enjoys piano, theatre, track, cross country and her favorite vacation destination, Disney World.
