Morgantown Ballet Company, the official performing company of Morgantown Dance, is proud to present repertoire in the Spring Show, March 15th and 16th at the Metropolitan Theatre. Morgantown Dance will also present “Carnival of the Animals” and “Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”
The act, PREMIERES! will feature new works made for Morgantown, by Kellie Hodges, director Daniel Karasik and Kiesha Lalama.
Kellie Hodges, danced with Thodos Dance Chicago and has been chosen to choreograph works for Peridance’s APAP’s showcase, presenting in New York City at the Joyce Theater and the Capezio Center.
Kiesha Lalama, has been listed in Dance Magazine’s Top 25 to Watch 2009, and has choreographed for companies such as Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Eisenhower Dance Ensemble and Houston Metropolitan Dance Company. Her full length production “The Bench,” was twice declared “Best of Dance” by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s top ten list in both 2009 and 2010. She has won choreographic awards from the Youth America Grand Prix and Jazz Dance World Congress. Her Choreography can be seen in the film Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Daniel Karasik‘s choreography has been reviewed as “grace and beauty personified,” having “intellectual glamor” and being “a wonderfully effective series of dance essays.” He has produced works for Bodiography Contemporary Ballet, Dayton Arts Project, Dayton Ballet, Morgantown Dance, Morgantown Ballet Company, Pittsburgh Dance Conservatory and Point Park University.
