Alejandro Diaz

Artistic Director of the Youth Ballet Company

A native of Miami, Florida, Alejandro received his early dance training with Tony Catanzaro and later trained at the Boston Ballet School. He danced with Boston Ballet II prior to joining Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre in 2008.

With PBT, Diaz’s repertoire includes roles such as “Siegfried” in Swan Lake, “Desiree” in Sleeping Beauty, “Basilio” in Don Quixote, “Solor” in La Bayadere, “Romeo” in Romeo and Juliet, and “Albrecht” in Giselle. He has also performed works by George Balanchine, Twyla Tharp, Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe, and Dwight Roden.

Diaz was promoted to principal Dancer with the company in 2017 and retired in 2022 after a 14-year career with the Pittsburgh Ballet.
