Cambrie Decker

Instructor

Classes Taught: Tap, Jazz and Modern

Cambrie is a Morgantown Dance alumnus who has been dancing in the genres of jazz, contemporary, tap, theatre, modern, and ballet since she was five-years-old. Cambrie has been an instructor at Morgantown Dance for 5 years, where she says she is thrilled to share the art of theatre and performing/creating alongside the incredible students and faculty at what she calls her second home.

“I believe that it is not raw talent that makes a good artist, but hard work, dedication, and passion,” says Cambrie. “I try to encourage students that they can do anything they put their mind to if they put forth full effort. Anyone can be a good dance student if they come ready to work hard, give it their all, and have fun. This is my goal for all my students when they take my classes. I want them to genuinely love dance.”

She knows what she’s talking about. Her own love of choreography was sparked when she won the Morgantown Ballet Company’s Young Choreographer’s Initiative in 2017 and she continues to push herself by studying Dance, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Social Media at West Virginia University.

Cambrie has performed in many dance and musical theatre productions, with some of her favorite roles being Marian Paroo in The Music Man, Snow Queen in The Snow Queen, the Sugar Rum Cherry in The Jazz Nutcracker, and the Magic Carpet in a production of Aladdin for WVPT. Her favorite performance piece to date, “The Smallest Light,” was inspired by local cancer fighter Neva Grace Knight (2014-2020). It won Mohigan Idol 2018 (organized by Morgantown High School Student Government).

Cambrie is also the proud owner of NEVA Creative Arts Co., which held a summer intensive workshop at Morgantown Dance in 2022, with plans to hold more in Fall 2022 and the future. Among the shows she’s choreographed for Morgantown Theatre Company are Little Shop of Horrors (2021), The Music Man (2022), and Seussical (2022). She credits hard work, her mentors and instructors, and the support of family and friends for her success.
