Classes Taught: Ballet I/II, II, Advanced Ballet and Pointe

Marcy Bowers Mossburg is a cum laude graduate of Point Park University where she was a Golden Key scholarship student. She has a BA in dance with a concentration in Ballet, as well as an associate degree in business. She was a five-year dance faculty member at West Virginia University, where she also served as the Artistic Director and Principle Choreographer for the WVU Ballet Ensemble and Director of the children’s preparatory program. Marcy spent four years teaching at the Russell School of Ballet in Chantilly, VA. While in Virginia she choreographed for the Fairfax Ballet. She has been a guest choreographer and taught master classes throughout WV. She currently resides in Bridgeport, WV where she also teaches for the Annabel Timms School of Ballet.

She says she knew she had a passion for teaching and approached her college training with that in mind. She has helped numerous students successfully pursue dance as a career, with many of her pupils having advanced to prestigious year-round programs, colleges, and universities, as well as professional companies. In fact, one of her former students recently retired as a principal dancer with New York City Ballet.

“I think my greatest accomplishment though is the role I’ve played in encouraging a lifelong passion for dance in my students through the years,” she adds. A love affair with dance does not necessarily end on the stage! I tend to choose Joy! I sincerely love this art form and sharing it with others.”

Asked what she looks for in a student, she said, “Determination and passion! I will take a hard worker over a naturally talented dancer every day. Rather like life, you can only get out of class what you put into it.”

She also values self-improvement over sheer competition, quoting the legendary dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov, who once said, “I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to dance better than myself.”
